On behalf of the organizing committee, I warmly welcome you to the 14th Annual Meeting of International Society for Heart Research (Indian Section).
This will be held between January 27, 2017 (postlunch), and January 29, 2017, at CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (Mathura Road campus). The theme of the meeting is“Cardiovascular Disease: Current Advances in Nutritional, Clinical, and Molecular Research.”
Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of mortality and morbidity globally, and it has been estimated that 17.5 million people die each year, representing 31% of all global deaths. However, despite the advancement of molecular and clinical research, we are not able to prevail in battle against CVD. The burden of CVDs continues to rise in developing countries and it is estimated that 60% of the world's heart disease patients will be Indians by 2030. Therefore, a strong convergence of basic and clinical research with a stress on nutritional aspect is the need of the hour for the cardiovascular research community.
Keeping this in mind, the meeting is expected to bring the basic scientists and the clinicians working in the field of CVDs in one platform which is also the motto of this journal. The meeting will have technical sessions, orations, and plenary lectures. Apart from these, there will also be two award sessions where a few abstracts submitted by students/young scientists will be selected for oral presentation and two awards one each in basic and clinical science will be given. Awards will also be given for poster presentations. A few of the abstracts will also be chosen for short presentation in the technical sessions. The format for abstract will be posted shortly at http://genomeet2017.igib.in. The last date for submitting the abstract is November 1, 2016.
I would take this opportunity to welcome all the students, clinicians, and basic scientists working in this area to participate in this meeting. For further queries, please send E-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org or call 011-298-79201.
