Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
Robert Frost
We started this journey in 2015 and starting “another” cardiology journal was neither simple nor easy to justify to others who said “why another journal?” Our objective then was to preserve the way we had been taught cardiovascular sciences and also to propagate cardiovascular research by bridging the gap between clinical and basic cardiology in India. In our 3rd year now, we have managed to get Indexed, our journal contents are distributed to more than 6000 physicians, cardiologists and basic scientists by either E-mail or by print copies, we are linked to the International Society for Heart Research – Indian Section and publish their annual meeting proceedings regularly. We have taken out guidelines on the management of Heart Failure for India and prevention of coronary artery disease in India in the form of algorithms.
In this issue, we look at the small little fruit fly which has won so many Nobel prizes. We also look at chemotherapy-induced cardiotoxicity and methods of prevention. Heart transplant in India started 25 years ago, we talk about lessons learned from the AIIMS experience which is one of the largest in India. The bedside case discussion continues with a case of Ruptured sinus of Valsalva. The history of medicine section goes back to the beginning of surgery to when the first wounds to the heart were repaired. In the innovation section, we also talk of a new innovation, the Audicor which combines the best of electrocardiograph signals and phonocardiograms to make a diagnosis of heart failure easier.
