Dear Editor,
Recently, two heart failure workshops have been conducted in Delhi as a part of nationwide program “Heart Failure Essentials” initiated by Asian Society of Continuing Medical Education supported by an unrestricted academic grant by USV [Figure 1], [Figure 2], [Figure 3].
This is mentored by Professor SC Manchanda and coordinated by Dr. (Col) Anil Dhall and Dr. KR Balakrishnan.
The first workshop was conducted at Okhla in the presence of the course director of “Heart Failure Essentials” Dr. Anil Dhall and was attended by senior consulting physicians and postgraduates. Dr. Praloy Chakraborty who was the speaker for the workshop discussed growing burden of heart failure in India and the need for effective management. Dr. Chakraborty during his talk discussed diagnosis of heart failure with the help of 2016 ESC guideline for heart failure which was followed by a discussion on a few interesting cases of heart failure. Dr. Dhall shared his practical experiences with physicians.
The second workshop has been concluded at Gurgaon on 21 December 2016 in the presence of course director of “Heart Failure Essentials” Dr. Sandeep Seth from New Delhi AIIMS. Dr. Rahul Mehrotra was the speaker for this workshop. Total 61 consulting physicians attended this workshop which including eminent physicians like Dr. YP Munjal. Dr. Mehrotra discussed recent updates in heart failure along with clinical cases on heart failure. The workshop was very interactive where physicians interacted with Dr. Mehrotra and Dr. Seth on various clinical and practical aspects of heart failure.
More such workshops are planned all over India and there are more modules which will be released for the training of physicians in heart failure.
