“You have to dream before your dreams can come true.” This motivational statement by the late A. P. J Abdul Kalam, former President of India, is quite true for us. Starting from convincing ourselves why we wanted another cardiology journal when there are so many other journals around and then designing the cover and website to deciding the content, it has been a long fascinating journey. The first issue is out and we are now ready with the next one. The mission of this journal is to teach and in tune with that objective, we have encouraged articles by young cardiologists and basic scientists and invited reviews from senior scientists on topics that we believe as relevant in the present day's cardiology.

This time the focus is on inflammation, so we have a bedside case of constrictive pericarditis along with a discussion on its imaging in today's era. Dr. Alladi Mohan updates us on the latest in the management of tuberculosis pericarditis. Myocarditis is another important area covered with a focus on diagnostic polymerase chain reaction, pathology, and clinical aspects.

We also have original articles on stem cell research, genetics of cardiomyopathy, smokeless tobacco, and pathobiology of cardiomyopathy. A unique case of external mitral annuloplasty is presented. The focused reviews this time are on sudden cardiac death and the genetics of cardiomyopathy. We also enhance our understanding on how to manage patients of atrial fibrillation who have been stented in our “Fellows Forum.” As usual we have many other sections of interest to everyone.

We are focusing on heart failure and have released a ”Consensus statement on the management of Heart Failure in India.“ This has been generated after consultation with some of the major hospitals in India. This should provide a good resource material for heart failure management. This statement is being published in this issue and will also be widely distributed.

We, in subsequent issues will try to continue this trend of focusing on different diseases and encourage write ups focused on those diseases.

“Keep your face always towards the sunshine and shadows will fall behind you.”
